Dr. Priya Duggal ND is a registered naturopathic doctor practicing in Vaughan, Ontario. The areas of focus in her practice are women’s health, breast cancer, autoimmune conditions, addictions, and mental health. She is a firm believer of Mind-Body Medicine. Dr. Priya is the Vice President of MammAlive foundation, a non-profit organization run by volunteers who are passionate about women’s health and breast health education.
She is also a Compassionate Inquiry Practitioner, Facilitator, Educator, Mentor and Circle Leader.
Dr.Priya was born and raised in India where she was trained as a medical doctor but her journey of searching for deeper answers lead her to naturopathic medicine, mind-body medicine and finally to Compassionate Inquiry.
She added to her skills and obtained a degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She took the Healthy Breast Program with Sat Dharam Kaur, ND. Her quest for personal and professional growth continued by training in Kundalini Yoga, Beyond Addiction and Compassionate Inquiry.
Through Gabor Mate’s teachings and trauma work, she learnt that physical and mental symptoms have a deep and often hidden psychological component especially when it comes to chronic diseases, cancer, mental health and autoimmune conditions She invites those of you affected by chronic health conditions to explore the mind- body component of illness. Our body talks to us in the language of symptom. We have to learn how to listen to our bodies, tap it’s wisdom, uncover our unconscious thoughts and patterns which might be contributing to sickness. This exploration happens in Compassionate Inquiry sessions which are offered by Dr. Priya. That’s where the healing journey begins.
In her work with clients, in addition to incorporating Compassionate Inquiry approach developed by Gabor Mate- author of “ When the body says No”, she draws on the teachings of Stephen Porges- author of “Polyvagal theory “, Gordon Neufeld- devlopmental psychologist and author of “ Hold on to your kids”, Bessel van Der Kolk- acclaimed psychiatrist and author of “ The body keeps the score”
Dr. Priya’s long-term vision is to create a trauma-informed society that provides a safe, nurturing environment which is conducive to health and wellness.
She spends her time between both Canada and India. She enjoys nature walks, travelling the world exploring different cultures, painting, spending quality time with her husband, two adult children and adorable pet-Kaju.
She looks forward to meeting you.
Truly healing is in you as Hippocartes said -“ Natural forces from within us are the true healers of disease”. What we feel, what we believe have a profound effect on our health.
“The purpose of the Compassionate Inquiry is to drill down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them …
That’s what Compassionate Inquiry is.”
